Contrary to popular belief, I am not yet dead. :P
I've just been busy.
I think this year has to be one of the busiest years I've had in Medicine so far. 4,000 word case reports, 2 weeks of away rotations in the middle of nowhere, blood, blood and more blood!
I have done so far: Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and currently ENT/Opthalmology.
Psychiatry: this was a relaxing start of the year, it wasn't a busy attachment. Most days we started at 9.30am and got home around 3.00pm-ish. Still there were 5 cases to write up and that wasn't fun. Plus seeing depressed/schizophrenic people everyday for 7 weeks has to impact you in some way. I felt almost like a zombie.
Obstetrics & Gynaecology: was very interesting but very tiring. As there was a little yellow book we had to fill up with signatures, there was not much rest. 24 hour on-calls, 20 deliveries to be observed and performed...wheew... Interestingly, the first time I saw a lady give birth I didn't faint. I really thought I would have. Must be stronger than I thought :p I remember in 2nd year I saw an episiotomy being repaired ... I went pale and held on to the nearby sink for support. How time flies! I still wonder how the boys felt when they saw deliveries...
ENT/Opthalmology: If you like looking at earwax and deal with nosebleeds every day, this is for jooo~! Zzz...
I'm so looking forward to going back to Malaysia. I miss home and everyone at home!
